Explore Newcastle's legendary beer culture from historic Quayside brewery events to vibrant city centre festivals. The Geordie capital welcomes festival-goers with genuine warmth, distinctive regional character and a proud brewing tradition dating back centuries.
Newcastle pairs a famous appetite for a good night out with a beer scene to match, and its festivals show it. The Ouseburn Valley is the buzzing heart of it.
Festivals run across the valley's taprooms, the city centre and a few grand old venues, with cask and modern keg both well represented. The North East holds a strong festival tradition, so there is usually something within reach.

Sunday will see a varied line-up of local artists wind down the festival, including acclaimed Northumbrian indie-folk band The Early Purple. Rob Huggins, CEO of Gosforth Civic Theatre explained: “It's particularly special to be welcoming visitors to our Beer Festival in 2026 as we celebrate Gosforth Civic Theatre's tenth anniversary. Over the past decade we've become a place that people choose to come to for great events, great food and drink, and a warm welcome. We're incredibly proud that so many people have made GCT part of their lives, and the Beer Festival is a brilliant way to celebrate everything the venue has become. Every entry fee and pint bought helps support GCT, making it possible for us to continue to grow what we've built over the last ten years.”

Almasty Brewing is an independent craft brewery offering a diverse selection of beers through their online shop. Their core range includes options like the German Pilsner (5% ABV), a traditional German-style pilsner brewed with fine German malt and whole leaf hops for subtle spice and citrus notes. They also produce special editions such as the Blended Barrels (10% ABV), a stout aged for 24 months in bourbon, rum, and whisky barrels, resulting in a complex blend of vanilla, coffee, prunes, and caramel flavors. For enthusiasts seeking variety, Almasty offers a Can Club subscription, providing a monthly box of 12 canned beers featuring their latest specials and core selections. While their taproom is currently closed, they typically serve fresh beers across six keg lines and two cask lines, complemented by traditional wood-fired Italian pizzas.
