Beer festivals in Newcastle

Newcastle pairs a famous appetite for a good night out with a beer scene to match, and its festivals show it. The Ouseburn Valley is the buzzing heart of it.

Festivals run across the valley's taprooms, the city centre and a few grand old venues, with cask and modern keg both well represented. The North East holds a strong festival tradition, so there is usually something within reach.

See the brewers behind it on our Newcastle breweries guide, or browse festivals across the North.

Gosforth Civic Theatre’s popular annual Beer Festival is returning from Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August to entertain visitors with three days of beer, music, street food pop-ups and fun for all the family - well-behaved dogs included! The event, supported by Sweeney Miller Law, will welcome a wide range of guest beers including 20 taps of keg and 10 taps of cask beer from local and national breweries, as well as offering wine, spirits, low and no alcohol options at the venue’s Theatre Bar, and soft drinks and hot beverages at GCT’s Cafe. Kicking off at 4pm on Friday, the festival will open with authentic wood-fired Neopolitan-style pizza from local business Hizzys Pizza, alongside offerings from GCT’s own kitchen. As the day moves into evening, visitors will be able to sample beers while enjoying upbeat tunes from four-piece jazz-funk fusion band TWIG. On Saturday, children and families can get crafty with Mini Crafters, while everyone will be able to enjoy BBQ fare from Meat Stack and dishes from GCT’s own kitchen. Regional musicians Jamagotchi will bring their unique brand of nostalgic 90s pop, dance and indie to the event for the second year running, and North East funk and soul jazz group Phantom Bagman will entertain visitors with a range of tracks from their new EP. Sunday will see a varied line-up of local artists wind down the festival, including acclaimed Northumbrian indie-folk band The Early Purple. Visitors can also enjoy food from GCT’s kitchen, as well as checking out GCT’s gaming pop-up corner featuring a collection of retro consoles and games from the venue’s popular weekly Gaming Social. £8 entry for over 18s - kids go free. Pay on the door. The entry fee includes branded pint glass to reuse and take home, and gets visitors repeat entry for the whole weekend with a wristband. The event will have a £8 entry fee for adults, which gives visitors a branded pint glass to reuse and access to the festival for the whole weekend. Rob Huggins, CEO of Gosforth Civic Theatre explained: “It's particularly special to be welcoming visitors to our Beer Festival in 2026 as we celebrate Gosforth Civic Theatre's tenth anniversary. Over the past decade we've become a place that people choose to come to for great events, great food and drink, and a warm welcome. We're incredibly proud that so many people have made GCT part of their lives, and the Beer Festival is a brilliant way to celebrate everything the venue has become. Every entry fee and pint bought helps support GCT, making it possible for us to continue to grow what we've built over the last ten years.”

Your ticket secures you entry for the session of your choosing, your commemorative FCF branded glassware and a free 1/3 of Full Circle beer upon arrival. While you're at the festival you can purchase beers from any brewery of your choosing using our token system. This is the perfect chance for any beer lover to sample new beers from various breweries up and down the UK and chat directly to the teams behind these beers. We will be joined by 3 local street food vendors who will be providing delicious scran for everyone all weekend. Food vendors will take card payments, not tokens. The entire festival is a cashless event, please ensure you have your card when attending.
