Wales's proud beer festival heritage

Wales pairs a deep pub heritage with a fast-growing craft scene, and its festivals reflect both. You will find everything from traditional cask celebrations in community halls to lively city events showcasing the new wave, often set against some of Britain's finest scenery.

The calendar runs the length of the country. Cardiff hosts the biggest events, drawing brewers and drinkers from across the nation, while Swansea and Newport add their own coastal and valleys character. Smaller festivals in Wrexham, the Brecon Beacons and towns across Gwynedd and Powys prove the good stuff is not confined to the cities.

Expect a warm welcome, plenty of cask alongside modern keg, and a genuine pride in local beer. Welsh festivals tend to be sociable, unhurried affairs where the conversation flows as freely as the beer, and where you will often hear a few Welsh brewing terms mixed in with the tasting notes.

It is a brilliant excuse to explore the country, beer in hand. To get to know the brewers you will meet along the way, see our Wales breweries guide, then browse the festivals below to plan a trip.
