Burton Bridge Brewery
24 Bridge Street, Burton-on-Trent
Burton Bridge Brewery, founded on 25 May 1982 by Bruce Wilkinson and Geoff Mumford in Burton upon Trent, is one of the town's oldest continuous independent brewers, operating from the iconic Burton Bridge Inn taproom. The brewery specialises in traditional cask ales—like the flagship Bridge Bitter, Stairway to Heaven, and Staffordshire Knot—alongside a rotating lineup of stouts and seasonal brews. In May 2024, Burton Bridge merged with Heritage Brewing Company (formerly based at the National Brewery Centre), bringing historic recipes like Charrington IPA and White Shield-inspired Masterpiece into their production. With plans for new brewing kit, expanded capacity, courtyard events, and a renewed focus on reviving classic ales such as Draught Burton Ale and Empire Pale Ale, the brewery is blending its rich heritage with vigorous innovation to secure Burton’s reputation in British brewing.
