Isle of Skye Brewery

Portree, Highland, IV51 9XP

The Isle of Skye Brewing Company, founded in 1995 as the first commercial brewery on Skye (and the Western Isles), is based in Uig at the gateway to Scotland’s dramatic landscapes, where founders filled a local gap with their inaugural ale, Skye Red. They mill their own grains and hand‑pick local berries and plants to craft authentic, award‑winning ales rooted in island tradition—brewing core beers like Skye Red, Skye Black, Skye Gold, Pale Ale, IPA and seasonal specials such as Blaven and Young Pretender. With over 60 accolades from CAMRA and other awards, their brews—especially the complex smoky Skye Black and oaty Skye Gold—have earned a stellar reputation. The Uig brewery shop welcomes visitors most days (10 am–6 pm, 10 am–5 pm Sundays) and offers bottled ales, gin, and merchandise, while the beers are widely available across Scotland. This trailblazing island brewery combines rugged scenery, meticulous local sourcing, and a celebrated range of rich, flavourful ales—from session bitters to smoky old‑style darks—that pair perfectly with Scotland’s food and terrain.
