Tring Brewery, founded in 1992 by Richard Shardlow (formerly of Greene King, Ruddles, and Devenish) and joined in 2000 by Whitbread alum Andrew Jackson, revived brewing in a town that hadn’t had a working brewery for over 50 years. Located on scenic Dunsley Farm in Hertfordshire, they produce an extensive lineup of cask, keg, and bottled ales—ranging from traditional bitters like Ridgeway and Side Pocket for a Toad to more adventurous styles like Tea Kettle Stout, Liberator pale ale, Moongazing red‑amber, and Posher seasonal specials. Embracing local folklore in their quirky names (“Legendary Beer from Hertfordshire”), they also operate an onsite shop with a tasting bar, offer tours and events, and maintain strong community ties and environmental awards. With over 130 barrels brewed weekly and multiple awards under their belt, Tring Brewery remains a beloved regional institution for craft beer enthusiasts.
