Powder Monkey Brewing Co. is a craft brewery in Gosport, Hampshire, built inside a restored 19th-century naval gunpowder store at Priddy’s Hard. Founded in 2019, the brewery began when our Co-Founder Andy discovered the long-abandoned building and saw its potential to become something special. What followed was a full transformation — bringing new life to a historic space and creating a modern, efficient brewing facility. The name “Powder Monkey” is a nod to the young sailors who once carried gunpowder aboard naval ships — a piece of history that still shapes everything we do today. Working alongside Head Brewer Mark, the brewery was carefully designed from the ground up, with a focus on quality, consistency, and great-tasting beer. We brewed our first beers in 2021, and have been crafting a range of cask and keg beers ever since, including pale ales, IPAs, and amber ales. Today, Powder Monkey is more than just a brewery. Our Gosport site is home to a waterside taproom, shop, and visitor experience — a place to drink fresh beer where it’s brewed.
