The Southampton brewing scene
Southampton brews with quiet ambition. Unity Brewing Co leads a modern scene from its city taproom, and Vibrant Forest and Powder Monkey keep the local range broad, from hazy pale to barrel-aged styles.
Most of these breweries run their own bar, and the city makes an easy base for a south coast beer trip. They turn up at festivals across Hampshire, so a favourite brewery is a short step to a day out.

Alfred's Brewery is an independent microbrewery, established in 2012 by brewer Steve to produce high-quality, local craft beers. Moving to Easton Lane in 2017, it utilises a semi-automated brewhouse to produce a wide range of ales, including Saxon Bronze, Winchester Pale Ale, and Cipher.
